What do you think a general physical examination of your pet will reveal about their overall health? Will it provide us with sufficient information to diagnose an illness or injury? For a complete assessment of your pet’s health status, we need to utilize our diagnostics equipment, which can help us detect a wide variety of underlying issues that might otherwise go unnoticed. Just as we need routine blood work to check thyroid, blood sugar levels, and more, our pets can also greatly benefit from this service.
Our doctors and technicians here in Clifton Park are highly trained and qualified to perform various laboratory tests and imaging procedures to ensure a full evaluation of your pet's health status. With accurate and timely diagnoses, we can efficiently treat a large number of issues.
What Services Can We Provide?
When working to diagnose health problems in our patients, we know that only the highest-quality tools will do. These include:
- Digital X-ray
- In-house laboratory testing
- ECG (electocardiography) – allows us to study the electrical activity of the heart
- Blood pressure measurement
In-House Laboratory Testing
Our in-house laboratory equipment gives us the ability to run a variety of tests, including:
- CBC – Complete Blood Count
- T4 (thryoid)
- Phenobarbital levels
- Heartworm testing
- Tick testing
- Feline leukemia
- Feline AIDS
We can obtain results in approximately 10-15 minutes, which means we can test your pet, interpret the results, make a diagnosis, and formulate a treatment plan all in the same appointment. If results are inconclusive and we need to run additional tests, we will be sure to let you know.
Digital X-ray and Ultrasound
Digital X-ray allows us to produce higher-quality images of your pet’s bones and internal organs, and results in shorter radiation exposure times and higher efficiency. We can look for bone fractures, tumors, foreign bodies, and other issues with this technology.
Ultrasound uses sound wave echoes to produce a clear, real-time image of the abdominal cavity and soft-tissue organs. Like X-ray, this imaging tool is noninvasive and painless. Ultrasound helps us diagnose pregnancies and detect cysts, tumors, and abdominal fluid. We can also study the shape, size, and texture of the internal organs.
